All about Magic Wood: Cade Juniper
Cade (Juniperus Oxycedrus) is a juniper tree of modest size, a little brother of the softwoods (fir, spruce, etc.).
Its evergreen leaves are needles with fine, prickly tips.
Bois de cade, or juniper cade, is a shrub that grows on arid, rocky soils and thrives in hot weather. It grows in the Mediterranean basin, from Languedoc to Provence and Corsica.
This tree is naturally oil-rich and highly fragrant.
It is a shrub that can reach 6 to 8 m in height, and can be recognized by its very prickly needles and round (red-brown) fruits.

The essential oil of Bois de Cade has always been extracted. Cade was burned in stone ovens built in the garrigue.
ITS USE
Cosmetics: Used in certain cosmetics for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Aromatherapy: its relaxing properties help reduce sadness and depression.
Crafts: This wood is often used for cutlery, woodturning and sculpture. It is a very hard, fragrant wood with a fine grain.
